General Info

Rancho Tequileria at 741 9th Ave, New York, NY 10019, stands out as a lively Mexican restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere that feels welcoming from the moment you walk in. The menu keeps things approachable while still delivering bold flavors, and the overall experience feels casual in the best possible way. Whether stopping by for a quick dine-in meal or settling in for happy hour food with friends, the place carries the kind of energy that makes people want to stay longer than planned.

One of the first things that catches attention on the menu is the Large Lime Margarita. It arrives cold, citrusy, and refreshing, balancing sweetness and tequila flavor without feeling overpowering. Paired with fresh tortillas and a generous serving of Guacamole - El Classico, it easily becomes the kind of starter that sets the tone for the rest of the meal. The guacamole tastes smooth and fresh, while the tortillas bring a warm homemade touch that gives the table a more authentic feel.

The Carnitas Taco is another highlight that leaves a strong impression. The meat is tender with a slightly crisp finish, and every bite feels rich without becoming too heavy. It works especially well alongside the restaurant’s happy hour food options, making the experience feel both filling and relaxed. For diners looking for something heartier, the Chicken Burrito delivers a satisfying combination of flavor and texture. Packed generously and wrapped tightly, it feels comforting and flavorful from start to finish.

What also makes Rancho Tequileria appealing is how balanced the overall dining experience feels. The restaurant offers vegetarian options, so groups with different preferences can comfortably order together. Coffee is available for those wanting a slower finish to the meal, and the wheelchair accessible restroom adds an extra level of convenience that many guests appreciate.

Reviews often mention the easygoing atmosphere and approachable menu, and it is easy to understand why. Rancho Tequileria feels less like a rushed city stop and more like a neighborhood Mexican restaurant where people gather for flavorful food, margaritas, and conversation. Between the vibrant menu choices, friendly dine-in setting, and comforting classics like tacos, burritos, and guacamole, the location delivers a dependable experience that feels genuine and enjoyable every time.

“ Came here on a Tuesday afternoon with a group of friends. The happy hour deal is great — $9 margaritas with only $2 extra for flavors is a solid deal. The consistency of the drinks is impressive; they stay nicely frozen, and they’re strong with great flavor. The staff was also very friendly and attentive throughout our visit. As for the food, it didn’t feel very authentically Mexican — more like an Americanized version of Mexican cuisine. The nachos were good overall. We ordered the spicy guac and chips, but unfortunately the guac wasn’t spicy at all. I had the Aztec quesadilla — the filling was delicious, but the outer side of the tortilla on all the pieces was overly greasy and oily. I’ve been here before and remember the music being more Latin and fitting the vibe better. This time, there was a lot more English music, and the ambiance didn’t feel as Latin or Mexican as it had in the past, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, it was a good experience. The margaritas were definitely the highlight, but the food and music could’ve been better for a Mexican restaurant. ”

“ Solid Mexican restaurant with cozy interior My wife and I stopped at Rancho Tequileria on 9th Ave for an early dinner after a Broadway show on Christmas Eve 2025. The food was tasty, flavorful, and nicely presented, and the service was very quick, possibly because the place was almost empty due to the holiday. A couple of things, however, kept the experience short from being a five-star one: the tequila shots were served without any salt; the enchiladas were slightly over salted; and the fajita came with only warm tacos and rice and beans, without any additional sides. Overall, it’s a decent restaurant and worth a visit if you’re in the area and looking for a Mexican cuisine bite. Food ordered Flautas De Pollo (taquitos with chicken) - good Enchiladas Suizas with Chicken - juicy, moderately spicy, served with a well-complementing sauce. Would be a five-star if it weren’t over salted Rancho Fajita with Chicken - savory and comforting, though also slightly over salted ”

“ A decent Mexican restaurant near Times Square with good gluten-free options. The place was extremely noisy when we visited. I tried the chicken with chocolate sauce (mole), which came in a large portion and was served with corn tortillas. Portions overall are quite generous. The waiters were generally nice, although only one of them was particularly welcoming while the others were more straightforward. Overall, it’s a solid option in the area, especially if you need gluten-free choices, but it’s probably not the most original Mexican restaurant you’ll find in New York ”
